Arms of God Weapon & Blessing Pairing Guide — Best Combinations for Every Weapon Type
The Hidden Blessing Mechanics
The blessing system in Arms of God looks simple on the surface: equip a blessing, get an effect. Under the hood, blessing effectiveness depends heavily on which weapon you pair it with. Some blessings scale with attack speed, some with damage per hit, some with range. The game does not explain any of this.
This guide pairs every blessing with its optimal weapon types, based on testing across 200+ runs.
Blessing Scaling Rules (What the Game Doesn't Tell You)
- Thunder (Chain Lightning): Chain damage scales with BASE attack speed, not modified. Fast weapons get full value. Hammers get almost none.
- Frost (Slow/Freeze): Slow stacks per HIT, not per damage instance. Attack speed is everything.
- Flame (Burn DOT): Burn damage scales with the triggering hit's damage. Slow, heavy weapons are best.
- Holy (Heal on Kill): Flat heal per kill. Independent of weapon stats. Fast weapons kill more things = more heals.
- Void (Execute): Triggers when enemy drops below 20% HP. Damage of execute hit does not matter. Fast weapons proc it sooner.
- Wind (Attack Speed Buff): Stacks on consecutive hits. Resets on miss or after 3 seconds without hitting. Fast weapons maintain stacks easily.
Best Pairings by Weapon Type
Fast Melee (Dual Blades, Daggers, Fist Weapons)
Best Blessings: Frost → Thunder → Wind
Fast melee weapons hit 2-4 times per second. Frost stacks per hit, so Dual Blades freeze enemies in about 3 seconds. Thunder chains proc on every third hit regardless of damage, so attack speed directly multiplies lightning output. Wind stacks cap at 10 hits and fast weapons get there in under 3 seconds.
Avoid: Flame (low damage per hit = weak burns), Void (execute is overkill when you already kill fast).
Slow Heavy (Hammer, Greatsword, Heavy Axe)
Best Blessings: Flame → Void → Holy
Slow weapons hit hard but rarely. Flame burn damage scales with the triggering hit's base damage — a 300-damage hammer swing applies a burn that ticks for 60/second. Compare that to Dual Blades applying burns at 15/second. Void execute on a slow weapon means the single hit that crosses the 20% threshold is massive, often one-shotting the enemy. Holy heals are flat per kill, and hammers one-shot trash mobs efficiently.
Avoid: Frost (you hit too slowly to stack), Wind (stacks fall off between swings).
Ranged (Bow, Crossbow, Staff)
Best Blessings: Thunder → Flame → Holy
Ranged weapons have a unique advantage with Thunder: each pierced or chained hit counts as a separate hit for chain lightning purposes. Holy Crossbow piercing 3 enemies = 3 chain procs from one bolt. Flame is strong on bows because the initial hit damage is high. Holy works on any ranged weapon for sustain.
Avoid: Frost (ranged weapons cannot maintain freeze stacks), Wind (harder to sustain hit streaks at range).
Spear/Polearm (Burning Pike, Water Spear, Voltfield)
Best Blessings: Flame → Wind → Thunder
Spears sit between fast and slow — moderate attack speed, good reach, decent per-hit damage. They are the most flexible weapon class for blessings. Flame is best overall because spear thrust damage is high. Wind works surprisingly well because the reach means you almost never miss, so stacks stay up. Thunder is solid but not exceptional.
AoE/Cleave Weapons (Sunforged Hammer charged, Heavy Axe slam)
Best Blessings: Flame → Holy → Void
AoE weapons hit multiple enemies per swing. Flame applies burn to everything in the cone. Holy heals per kill, and AoE weapons get multi-kills constantly. Void triggers on each enemy independently when they hit 20%.

Dual Blessing Combos
At level 15 you unlock a second blessing slot. The combos below are the strongest tested:
Frost + Flame (Temperature Shock): Freeze with Frost (fast weapon), swap to Flame blessing, first hit triggers temperature shock — bonus 150% damage as a separate tick. This melts Act 3+ bosses.
Thunder + Wind (Storm Engine): Wind stacks increase attack speed, Thunder chains scale with attack speed. This is a positive feedback loop. At 10 Wind stacks with Dual Blades, Thunder procs roughly every 0.4 seconds.
Holy + Flame (Purifying Fire): Flame burns reduce enemy defense. Holy heals keep you alive while burns tick. The safest combo for hard mode.
Void + Thunder (Execute Chain): Thunder chains jump when Void executes an enemy. The chain carries the execute damage to nearby enemies, potentially chaining multiple executes from one kill.
