Arms of God Currency & Resource Guide — How to Farm Gold, Upgrade Materials & Never Run Out

2026-08-09·Guides

The Economy of Arms of God

There are five currencies in Arms of God. The game introduces them one at a time, which makes each feel manageable. The trap is that two of them — Divine Essence and Blood Crystals — seem rare early on and you hoard them, while Gold and Iron Shards seem abundant and you waste them.

By Act 4, you will have 200,000 Gold you cannot spend and zero Blood Crystals for your final upgrades. This guide prevents that.

The Five Currencies

| Currency | Primary Use | Scarcity | Do NOT Waste On |

|----------|------------|----------|-----------------|

| Gold | Weapon upgrades (1-10), consumables | Common early, useless late | Armor before +10 weapon |

| Iron Shards | Weapon upgrades (11-15), Cathedral | Medium | Low-tier weapons |

| Divine Essence | Blessing upgrades, respec | Rare throughout | First blessing (wait for your endgame blessing) |

| Blood Crystals | Legendary upgrades, NG+ | Extremely rare, limited supply | Anything before confirming your build |

| Soul Fragments | Cathedral capstone upgrades | Boss drops only | Non-meta cathedral upgrades |

Gold Farming

Best Early Game (Act 1-2): Elite Farming Route

  • Route: Act 2 Cathedral → Armory → Underground Passage
  • Time: ~4 minutes per run
  • Yield: ~800 Gold per run
  • Strategy: Two elites per route, each drops 300-500 Gold. Fast weapons clear it fastest.

Best Mid Game (Act 3): Boss Rush

  • Route: Act 3 boss (Fire Elemental) repeated
  • Time: ~6 minutes per run
  • Yield: ~1,500 Gold + chance of Divine Essence
  • Strategy: Frost + Flame combo melts the boss in under 2 minutes. See [Fire Elemental guide](/guides/arms-of-god-fire-elemental-boss-guide).

Best Late Game (Act 4+): Divine Engine Farm

  • Route: Full Act 4 clear → Divine Engine Omega
  • Time: ~15 minutes per run
  • Yield: ~5,000 Gold + materials
  • Strategy: Full endgame build required. The Omega boss drops 3-5x everything. [Omega boss guide](/guides/arms-of-god-divine-engine-omega-boss-guide).

Iron Shard Farming

Iron Shards come from three sources:

1. Dismantling weapons (main source) — dismantle every weapon you do not use

2. Act 3+ elite kills — roughly 2-5 shards per elite

3. Daily quests (if available) — check the quest board in the hub

NEVER sell weapons for Gold. Always dismantle. Gold is farmable. Iron Shards are bottlenecked by drop rates.

Dismantle priority:

  • Duplicate weapons: dismantle immediately
  • Weapons below your current tier: dismantle
  • Off-class weapons you will never use: dismantle
  • Keep only: your two main weapons + one experimental option

Divine Essence — The Real Bottleneck

Divine Essence is the most frustrating currency because it gates blessing upgrades AND respecs. Every point spent on the wrong blessing is a point you need to farm back.

How to get Divine Essence:

  • Boss kills: 1-3 per boss (first kill of the day)
  • Act 3+ elites: ~10% drop chance
  • Weekly challenges: 5-10 per completion
  • Hard Mode bosses: 5-8 per kill

Spending priority:

1. Upgrade your PRIMARY blessing to level 5 (cost: 15 total)

2. Unlock second blessing slot (cost: 10)

3. Upgrade secondary blessing to level 3 (cost: 6)

4. Save the rest for respecs (cost: 5 per respec)

Do NOT spend Essence on a blessing you might swap later. Test blessings at level 1 before committing upgrades.

Blood Crystals — Do Not Waste These

Blood Crystals are the rarest currency. You get roughly 40-50 in a full playthrough, and legendary upgrades cost 10-20 each. There is no infinite farm — once spent, they are gone until NG+.

Spending priority (non-negotiable):

1. Main weapon legendary upgrade: 15 crystals

2. Secondary weapon legendary upgrade: 15 crystals

3. Armor legendary upgrade: 10 crystals

4. Any remaining: blessing capstone (if your build is final)

NEVER spend Blood Crystals on:

  • Cosmetics (yes, the vendor offers them — ignore)
  • Consumable buffs (temporary, not worth it)
  • Weapons you are "testing" — test at Epic rarity first

Soul Fragments

Soul Fragments drop exclusively from bosses. Each boss drops 1-3 fragments, once per difficulty. Total available in one playthrough: ~30.

Cathedral capstone priority:

1. Weapon Damage +10% (5 fragments)

2. Blessing Cooldown -15% (5 fragments)

3. Max HP +20% (5 fragments)

4. Everything else

Farming Schedule (Most Efficient Route)

| Session | What to Farm | Time | Expected Yield |

|---------|-------------|------|----------------|

| 15 min | Act 3 boss rush (3 kills) | 15 min | 4,500 Gold, 3-9 Essence |

| 30 min | Full Act 4 clear | 25 min | 5,000 Gold, 5-15 Shards, 3-8 Essence |

| 60 min | Two Act 4 clears + Omega attempt | 60 min | 10,000+ Gold, 15+ Shards, Essence, possible Crystals |

Common Resource Mistakes

Buying consumables. The hub vendor sells temporary buff potions. They are a Gold trap. The buffs last one room. Save your Gold for permanent upgrades.

Upgrading armor too early. Weapon upgrades give you faster clears. Faster clears = more resources. Armor upgrades give you survivability. Survivability without damage = longer fights = more chances to die anyway. Weapons first, always.

Hoarding materials. If you have the materials to upgrade and you are committed to the weapon, spend them now. A +15 weapon clears 3x faster than a +10. The resources you save by clearing faster outweigh the cost.

Not dismantling. Players hold onto weapons "just in case." After Act 2, if you have not used a weapon in 5+ runs, dismantle it. You can always farm it again later.
