Arms of God Sniper Guide — Best Ranged Builds, Crit Stacking & Positioning [2026]
Why Play Sniper?

The Sniper is the safest character in Arms of God — her attacks have 3x the range of any melee character, and her passive grants +30% damage to enemies more than 15 meters away. A well-played Sniper clears entire acts without the enemy ever reaching melee range. At maximum range with a fully charged shot, she hits for roughly 2,800 damage with a critical — enough to one-shot most non-boss enemies in Act 4.
Where she excels: Safe boss kills, long-range DPS, kiting. The Sniper's range advantage means she can attack during boss mechanics that force melee characters to disengage entirely — dealing damage while the Assassin and Paladin are dodging.
Where she struggles: Close-quarters trash rooms, enemy swarms, and any fight where the arena is smaller than 15 meters across. If 5+ enemies close to melee range, the Sniper's only hope is her Divine Form escape.
Passive Tree Priority
1. Ranger's Focus (Level 2): +30% damage to enemies beyond 15 meters. This is the Sniper's core mechanic — position correctly and it's a permanent 30% damage multiplier.
2. Dead Eye (Level 4): +20% critical hit chance on fully charged shots. Combined with base crit and gear, fully charged shots have roughly 55-60% crit rate. A non-crit charged shot is a wasted shot — Dead Eye makes non-crits rare.
3. Bullseye (Level 6): Critical hits with charged shots deal +50% critical damage. Standard crit multiplier is 2.0x; Bullseye raises it to 3.0x. On a Sniper with 60% crit rate, this is roughly a 60% overall DPS increase.
4. Tactical Retreat (Level 8): Dodging creates distance (teleports you 5 meters backward). This is your get-out-of-jail-free card when enemies close the gap. The teleport has no cooldown beyond the dodge cooldown (2 seconds).
5. Height Advantage (Level 10): +25% damage when standing still for 2+ seconds. The Sniper's natural playstyle — find a corner, plant, shoot — means this is active for roughly 70% of combat time.
6-12: Crit chance and crit damage nodes only. The Sniper is a one-dimensional crit stacker — every passive point should make your charged shots hit harder and crit more often.
Best Weapon Merges for Sniper
S-Tier: Stormcaller's Bow (Base) + Void Reaper (Sacrifice)
Charged shots pierce all enemies in a line and explode on the last target. The pierce means one charged shot can hit 4-5 enemies if lined up correctly. Explosion on the last target deals 150% weapon damage in a 3-meter radius. Lifesteal from Void Reaper heals for roughly 8% of the damage dealt — with 2,800-damage crits, that's 224 HP per shot.
Why it works on Sniper: Ranger's Focus (+30% at range) plus Bullseye (+50% crit damage) means a pierce-through-5-enemies shot deals roughly 800 damage to each and 1,200 to the last. One charged shot can output 4,400 total damage — more than most characters' full combos.
A-Tier: Holy Crossbow (Base) + Phoenix Wing (Sacrifice)
Faster fire rate at the cost of reduced per-shot damage. DPS is roughly 15% lower than the bow build, but the crossbow's faster reload means you can reposition more often. Phoenix Wing revive is critical — one positioning mistake ends a Sniper run, and a second life means you learn from mistakes instead of restarting.
A-Tier: Laser Core (Base) + Frostbite Blade (Sacrifice)
Beam weapon that ramps damage the longer it stays on target (up to 200% after 3 seconds). Slows enemies by 30%. The beam has infinite range and hitscan targeting — you cannot miss. Against bosses with predictable movement patterns, the Laser Core out-DPSs everything except the Assassin's bleed build.
Optimal Blessing Priority for Sniper
| Priority | Blessing | Why |
|------|------|------|
| 1 | Deadeye's Pouch | +40% ammo capacity and +20% reload speed. Faster reload = more charged shots = more DPS. |
| 2 | Hunter's Mark | First hit on a full-HP enemy deals +50% damage. With a charged Stormcaller's Bow crit, this hits for roughly 4,200 on an untouched boss. |
| 3 | Shadow Cloak | Stand still for 3 seconds to gain invisibility. Perfect synergy with Height Advantage — plant, go invisible, charge a shot, one-shot something from stealth. |
| 4 | Phoenix Wing | Second life. Sniper's biggest weakness is getting rushed — one revive covers the one mistake per act you're likely to make. |
| 5 | Wind Runner | +10% movement speed per kill (max 30%). Stack in trash rooms, carry the speed buff into boss arenas for better positioning. |
Avoid: Any melee or close-range blessing (Shield Bash, Point Blank, Iron Skin). If a blessing requires you to be within 5 meters of an enemy, it's useless for Sniper.
Divine Form: Predator's Gaze
Predator's Gaze is Sniper's ultimate ability. When activated:
- Gain perfect vision — all enemies are revealed through walls and obstacles for 8 seconds
- Charged shots during Predator's Gaze are instant — no charge time, full damage immediately
- 30-second cooldown
DPS math: A fully charged Sniper shot takes roughly 2.5 seconds. With Predator's Gaze, you fire 8 instant full-damage shots in 8 seconds (roughly 1 shot per second counting recoil). That's the equivalent of 20 seconds of normal DPS in 8 seconds — a 250% DPS window.
Optimal usage: Activate at the start of every boss phase. If your charged shot crits for 2,800, you'll output roughly 22,400 damage over the 8-second window — roughly 40% of an Act 4 boss's HP in one Divine Form activation.
Playstyle Tips
The 15-Meter Rule: Never let a non-boss enemy get within 15 meters. Use Tactical Retreat preemptively — if an enemy crosses the 20-meter mark, dodge backward to 25. Don't wait until they're at 10 meters; by then it's too late.
Corner discipline: Enter every arena and immediately identify the corner with the longest sightlines. Move there. Plant. Shoot. If enemies approach, Tactical Retreat to the opposite corner. The AI pathing in Arms of God forces enemies to walk in a straight line toward your last known position — a Sniper in the corner with Tactical Retreat can kite infinitely.
Boss positioning: Stay at opposite ends of the arena from the boss. Bosses in Arms of God have three types of attacks: melee (can't reach you), short-range AOE (can't reach you), and long-range projectiles (dodgeable). At max range, 70% of boss attacks simply miss — you dodge the remaining 30%.
Trash room tactics: Enter, fire one pierce shot through the densest line of enemies, then Tactical Retreat. Repeat. Don't try to clear trash rooms with repeated shots from one position — the Sniper's damage per shot is high but her fire rate is too slow to handle swarms without kiting.
Co-op role: Designated boss killer and revive support. While teammates hold aggro, you sit at max range and pump crits into the boss. If a teammate goes down, Predator's Gaze gives you 8 seconds of instant shots — more than enough to clear the revive area and get them up.
Act-by-Act Strategy
Act 1: Any ranged weapon works. Prioritize Ranger's Focus and Dead Eye. Position in corners and practice the 15-meter rule. Act 1 bosses (Varek the Betrayer, Forgotten King) have large arenas — perfect for learning Sniper positioning.
Act 2: You need a bow or crossbow merge by now. Laser Core is viable but harder to use before you have Shadow Cloak. Take Bullseye as your level 6 passive — the crit damage spike is your first major power jump.
Act 3: Full build. Stormcaller's Bow + Void Reaper is the optimal merge. Archon of Storms is the Sniper's easiest Act 3 boss — its AOE storms have clear safe zones at the arena edges, exactly where the Sniper wants to be. You can literally stand in the corner and shoot through the entire fight.
Act 4: Divine Engine Omega's arena is the smallest in the game — the Sniper's worst matchup. You need Predator's Gaze and perfect Tactical Retreat usage. Stay at the arena edge, fire charged shots during phase 1, pop Predator's Gaze for instant shots during phase 2 (when the boss closes distance), and use Tactical Retreat to kite during phase 3. The fight is winnable but expect to use Phoenix Wing — it's the hardest boss for Sniper for a reason.
