Armor System Overview

Arms of God has 18 armor sets, each with a 2-piece and 3-piece bonus. Equipping 3 pieces of the same set grants the full bonus. Mixing sets is sometimes optimal — we'll cover both approaches.

How Armor Sets Work

Each armor piece has base defensive stats (armor value, elemental resistance) plus set-specific bonuses that activate when you equip 2 or 3 pieces from the same set. Unlike weapons, armor drops are semi-deterministic: the game weights drops toward sets your current class can benefit from, but RNG still plays a major role.

Key mechanic: Set bonuses are multiplicative with blessings, not additive. A 20% damage set bonus combined with a 30% damage blessing gives you a 56% total increase, not 50%. This makes armor set choices more impactful than they look on paper.

S-Tier Armor Sets

Crimson Vanguard Set (3-Piece)

Bonuses: +25% max HP (2-piece), +15% damage when below 50% HP (3-piece) Best for: Tank, Berserker Why S-tier: The HP bonus is universally useful and the low-HP damage boost activates exactly when you need it most — during boss fights when you're taking heavy damage. Synergizes with any blessing that scales off max HP.

Archmage Regalia Set (3-Piece)

Bonuses: -20% cooldown reduction (2-piece), +30% elemental damage (3-piece) Best for: Mage, any elemental build Why S-tier: Cooldown reduction is the rarest stat in the game and this set provides a massive chunk of it. The elemental damage bonus applies to all damage types, making it the best general-purpose offensive set.

A-Tier Armor Sets

Shadow Stalker Set (3-Piece)

Bonuses: +25% movement speed (2-piece), +40% backstab damage (3-piece) Best for: Assassin, Sniper Why A-tier: Movement speed is the best defensive stat in the game, and the backstab bonus rewards skilled positioning. Knocked down from S because the 3-piece bonus is situational.

Bulwark Fortress Set (3-Piece)

Bonuses: +40% armor (2-piece), reflect 15% of blocked damage (3-piece) Best for: Tank, Support Why A-tier: Massive survivability boost, but the reflect damage doesn't scale well past Act 2.

B-Tier Armor Sets

Ranger Wind Set (3-Piece)

Bonuses: +20% projectile speed (2-piece), +15% attack speed (3-piece) Best for: Sniper, Mage Why B-tier: Solid but unspectacular. The attack speed bonus is good but other sets provide larger damage increases through elemental scaling.

Elemental Fusion Set (3-Piece)

Bonuses: +10% to all elemental resistances (2-piece), +20% elemental damage for each element type on equipped weapon (3-piece) Best for: Hybrid builds Why B-tier: The 3-piece bonus is powerful but requires specific weapon loadouts to maximize. Too inconsistent for general use.

Mix-and-Match Strategy

The most common optimization is wearing 2 pieces of Crimson Vanguard (+25% HP) plus 2 pieces of another set. Since you have 4 armor slots (helm, chest, gloves, boots), fitting two 2-piece bonuses is always possible. The best combinations:

  • Crimson Vanguard (2) + Archmage Regalia (2): Best all-around for Mage class. HP safety net plus cooldown reduction.
  • Crimson Vanguard (2) + Shadow Stalker (2): Best for Assassin. HP compensates for squishiness while movement speed keeps you alive.
  • Bulwark (2) + Shadow Stalker (2): The "invincible dodge" build. Armor + speed = you barely take damage.

Which Set to Farm First

Priority: Crimson Vanguard 2-piece > your class's best 3-piece > Crimson Vanguard 3-piece. The HP buffer from even the 2-piece bonus makes every subsequent farming run safer and faster.
