Arms of God Voltfield Guide — Chain Lightning Build, Stats & How to Craft
Voltfield Overview

The Voltfield is a Tier 3 Lightning melee weapon that releases chain lightning on every third hit. It's the best hybrid weapon in the game — competitive single-target damage with built-in AoE that doesn't sacrifice either role. If you can only craft one Tier 3 weapon, make it the Voltfield.
How Chain Lightning Works
Every third consecutive hit on any target releases a chain lightning bolt that arcs to up to 5 nearby enemies. The chain deals 70% of the triggering hit's damage to the first bounce, decreasing by 15% per subsequent bounce. The chain prioritizes the nearest enemies and will never bounce to the same enemy twice.
Key stats at Tier 3:
- Base damage per swing: 195
- Chain lightning base damage: 136 per bounce (70% of swing)
- Max chain targets: 7 (up from 5 at Tier 2)
- Swing speed: Fast (roughly 1.2 swings/second)
- Special: Targets hit by chain lightning take +15% Lightning damage for 3 seconds (stacks 3 times)
Blessing Synergies
S-Tier
1. Stormcaller: +2 chain bounces (from 7 to 9). More bounces = more Lightning vulnerability stacks spread across the room.
2. Conduit: Chain lightning also applies a 30% slow for 2 seconds. Turns the Voltfield into a crowd-control monster.
3. Lightning Affinity: +25% Lightning damage. The vulnerability debuff amplifies this further — effective damage gain is closer to 40%.
A-Tier
4. Overload: When chain lightning hits only one target (no bounces available), deal 50% bonus damage. Essential for boss fights with no adds.
5. Static Field: Enemies near chain lightning bounces take 10% of the bounce damage as passive AoE. Creates a damaging zone around your chain path.
6. Thunderclap: Every 10th chain lightning cast creates a shockwave that damages and stuns all enemies on screen for 0.5 seconds. The stun is brief but it interrupts boss attacks.
Pros and Cons
Strengths:
- Best hybrid single-target + AoE weapon — you don't need a dedicated trash-clearing secondary
- Lightning vulnerability stacking makes all Lightning weapons in your loadout stronger
- Fast attack speed means more blessing/on-hit effect procs per second
- Chain bounce auto-targeting means you can focus on dodging while the lightning does cleanup
- Excels in high-density rooms where chains bounce 7+ times
Weaknesses:
- Below-average damage per individual swing compared to pure single-target Tier 3 weapons
- Chain lightning is weaker in boss fights with no adds (fewer bounces = less total damage)
- Lightning-resistant enemies in late Act 3 appear in larger numbers
- Requires consistent melee engagement — you can't play hit-and-run effectively
Optimal Weapon Pairings
1. Voltfield + Lightning Staff: Full Lightning synergy. Staff applies vulnerability at range while Voltfield exploits stacks in melee. This is the meta Lightning build.
2. Voltfield + Shield Generator: The extra survivability lets you stay in melee range longer for more three-hit combos.
3. Voltfield + Another Lightning Weapon: Stacking Lightning weapons means more chain lightning from both sources, more vulnerability stacks, and faster Overload procs.
Crafting Requirements

- 12 Lightning Essence (farmed from storm-element enemies in Act 2-3)
- 5 Thunder Crystals (rare drop from Act 3 elite storm enemies)
- 10,000 gold
- Weapon Station level 5
