Arms of God Paladin Tank Build — Immortal Survivability Guide [2026]
The Immortal Paladin
The Paladin has the highest base HP (1,200) and the only team shield Divine Form in Arms of God. Built correctly, a Paladin can survive hits that would one-shot any other character — including Hard Mode boss attacks.
Core Stats
- Base HP: 1,200 (highest in the game)
- Base damage reduction: 15% (innate passive)
- Shield capacity: 30% of max HP
- Divine Form: Sanctuary — creates a dome that blocks all damage for 6 seconds (25s cooldown)
Passive Tree Priority
1. Bulwark (Level 2): +15% max HP (1,200 → 1,380). Foundation of the tank build.
2. Iron Will (Level 4): Damage taken below 30% HP reduced by 40%. Makes the last 414 HP effectively ~690 HP.
3. Shield Mastery (Level 6): Shield regenerates 50% faster. Without this, your shield regen is 5%/sec → 7.5%/sec. With it: 11.25%/sec.
4. Fortress (Level 8): Standing still for 3 seconds grants +20% damage reduction. Combined with base 15% = 35% DR. Against Hard Mode bosses, this is the difference between dying in 3 hits and dying in 6.
5. Retribution (Level 10): Reflect 25% of blocked damage back to attacker. With 35% DR + 30% shield, roughly 15% of incoming damage bounces back passively.
Best Weapon for Tank Paladin
Sword & Shield (Divine merge: Sunforged Hammer + Holy Crossbow → Aegis)
Damage is secondary for tank builds, but Aegis gives +20% shield strength and heals 5% max HP on block. With Shield Mastery, effective HP regeneration approaches 8%/sec while blocking.
Blessing Priority
1. Iron Skin: Flat damage reduction. Stacks additively with Fortress and base DR.
2. Guardian Angel: Revive at 30% HP. On Paladin, that's 414 HP — nearly full HP for an Assassin.
3. Frost Armor: 15% chance to freeze attackers. Proc rate scales with incoming attack rate, which is high when you're tanking.
4. Stonewall: Cannot be knocked back. Essential for maintaining Fortress DR bonus.
Playstyle
Tank Paladin is not about dealing damage — it's about enabling your team (or your own survival on solo). In co-op, hold boss aggro while the Assassin or Mage deals damage. In solo, attrition wins fights: outlast bosses through sheer HP pool and regen.
Boss Tanking Guide
Forgotten King: Stand still (activate Fortress). Block the overhead slam (shield eats the damage). Sanctuary the Shadow Storm phase — your team attacks freely for 6 seconds.
Divine Engine Omega: Sanctuary the bullet hell phase. Boss has no answer for 6 seconds of team invincibility. With 25s cooldown, Sanctuary is up for every other bullet hell wave.
